POMPANO BEACH, FL – May 3, 2005 - Dometic Corporation is supplying auxiliary HVAC systems to Mechron Power Systems, which is integrating them into an auxiliary air conditioning and power generator system. The products are being marketed by Mechron under the CCS Lightning brand name.
The Mechron CCS Lightning is designed to provide year-round cooling and heating for the truck’s sleeper without idling the main engine.
The Dometic split-gas air conditioning systems are offered in 10,000 and 14,000 BTU capacities. The condensing unit mounts outside the sleeper, while the cooling/heating unit fits inside the compartment, usually under a bunk or table. The two components are connected by refrigerant lines, which are precharged at the factory for easy installation without special tools.
The HVAC system has been engineered for Mechron to provide extra heating capacity for cold weather. The 10,000 BTU system outputs 3 KW, and the 14,000 BTU system provides 4KW of heat.
Mechron is packaging the Dometic HVAC components with its own 6 KW auxiliary power unit, which consists of a rugged Kubota diesel engine with a direct-drive generator. The unit only takes up 21 inches of rail space. Mechron has drawn on its extensive experience in engineering rugged power solutions for military and other heavy industrial applications.
Lou Siegel, senior vice president, marketing and strategic business development, for Dometic Environmental Systems, said, “We work closely with truck builders, auxiliary power unit manufacturers and system integrators to tailor HVAC solutions to meet their specific requirements for cooling and heating.”
